
Welding Trade in MySkills is a competition between the welding trainers to show their best skill and knowledge to produce the weldment which are complying with welding code, standard, specification and requirement. This is required degree of expertises of skills and knowledge. The assessment including theorical test and practical test project which must be completed in approximately 6 hours for preliminary and 18 hours for final round.
This competition involves the joining of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium using various processes of welding which are; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). They are requiring handling all these processes and work in various welding positions up to 6G position.
The materials are from carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium plate and pipe which it thickness from 3mm to 9mm and 2 inch to 6 inch pipe.
The competitor generally plan their work from given drawing and blueprints and they will use welding machine and tools to fabricate, assemble and welding the test projects.
The weldment will be evaluate by group of expert which is by visually, bending test, radiograph, pressure test and competency to complete the test project.
